One-liner#
Results management is a clinical workflow: interpret → communicate → act → track closure.
Minimum workflow (closed-loop)#
- Interpret the result in context (compare to baseline; medication effects; symptoms)
- Document your interpretation and plan (even if “no action needed”)
- Notify the patient in a timely way using an appropriate channel
- Make sure follow-up is scheduled/queued (repeat labs, visit, referral, imaging)
Documentation checklist#
- What the result means (plain language)
- Actions taken (med changes, further testing, referral)
- Timing (repeat interval, follow-up visit)
- Return precautions
