One-liner#

Incidental findings require: identify clinical significance → follow published guidance when available → communicate clearly → track completion.

Minimum workflow#

  • Review the full report (not just the impression)
  • Identify any “must follow” recommendations (size thresholds, interval imaging)
  • Check prior imaging for stability when possible
  • Create an actionable plan (repeat study, referral, reassurance)

Documentation checklist#

  • Finding and why it matters (or why it likely doesn’t)
  • Guideline/report-based follow-up interval and modality
  • Patient communication and tracking plan (orders placed, reminders)
